Tracy Sternitzke, a student at the Cosmetology Training Center of Mankato, MN was awarded a $650 memorial scholarship from the family of Jeanie Biehn. This was a memorial scholarship in honor of Jeanie Biehn. Jeanie was a resident of Madison Lake, MN and attended cosmetology school in Mankato after she graduated high school. She started her own salon after graduation from the cosmetology school called, Jeanie’s Beauty Shop in Madison Lake, MN. She operated her salon for nearly 40 years. Jeanie’s famiy’s hope was that they could give one of the Cosmetology Training Center’s students a small part of Jeanie’s Beauty Shop to continue on through this memorial scholarship.
Tracy Sternitzke is from Good Thunder, MN. She started at the Cosmetology Training Center September 2010. She will be graduating June of 2011. In her scholarship essay Tracy stated, “Jeanie was blessed to be able to do what she loved for those many years while being a blessing to others also. Your scholarship is a generous act to honor a remarkable person.” Tracy also stated in her essay, “It is so motivating and inspiring when I can make a client feel special on the inside by helping them look better on the outside. The simple act of styling a person’s hair, polishing their nails or simply shampooing them is reflected as they leave more confident, even radiant.” Tracy hopes to open her own salon upon graduation and give back and be a part of the community that she cares so much about. Tracy’s essay was chosen by the family of Jeanie Biehn and she willbe using the scholarship towards her tuition at the Cosmetology Training Center.
